Our Environment

In a constantly evolving commitment to the environment our business features several conservative efforts that will lessen our environmental footprint.

TREES:

In 2015 we began the process of planting over 500 Eucalyptus trees on the property. Primarily planted in rows to lessen the effects of the hill-top winds, the trees have also added fresh air, bird habitat, a filter for pollutants and a wonderful beautification of the once open field.

WATER:

Enjoy a lengthily shower or a full hot bath worry free. Our grey water is filtered and settled in a large 5000-liter water tank. This water is then recycled to the trees and plants surrounding the cabins.

All CABINS and RESTAURANT roof areas are designed to capture rain. Our gutters are all linked to an underground system of pipes that feed into a large 25,000-liter water catchment tank. This water is then pumped up into several large gravity-feed thanks that service all the structures with basic water needs. The property is essentially water-self-sufficient during the two rainy seasons. During the dry season the system is subsidised by water from the city.

SOLAR:

All cabins and restaurant are developed to capitalize on solar power. Our inverters only utilize government power during times of high demand. The inverters convert stored battery power into electricity for the cabins during power outages.

ENERGY:

All water is supplied to the structures through an extensive gravity feed water system. All sinks, toilets and showers do not utilize an electric pump. Water is only pumped once from our underground catchment tank to our in-roof gravity feed water tanks.

RECYCLING:

The property extensively recycles all product to the best of our abilities, including composting and metal and glass container return.
